Can I chat with characters from stories I'm reading?
Yes — any published public story with chat-ready characters shows a "Talk to the cast" card after each chapter. Every reader gets 10 free messages per character per day; chat packs (from 5 coins for 30 messages) keep the conversation going, and 80% of every pack goes to the story's author.
How is this different from a generic AI chatbot?
The character is drafted from the story's actual chapters — their voice, wounds, secrets, and pinned canon ride into every reply. Ask about the night that broke them and they answer the way the story says they should.
Can the characters speak out loud?
Yes. Replies can play aloud in a voice picked from a 26-voice roster (every plan includes voiced replies), you can dictate with hold-to-talk, and Writer plans add live real-time voice calls. Live calls require age verification and aren't available in every region. All AI audio is disclosed and marked as AI-generated.
Can a character message me first?
Yes — companion outreach is built in on every plan. Opt a character in and they'll message you between chats on a schedule you set, with quiet hours, by email or web push. Reply from your inbox and they answer back. Free includes one companion on a weekly rhythm; paid plans add more companions and tighter cadences. Pausing is one click.
I'm a writer — what do I get out of it?
Interview your own cast to find their voice (question decks are built in), then save what a conversation uncovers straight into the character's voice notes and your Canon Ledger. Do imported character cards work?
